The Stream at the Dunes

There is a wide, shallow stream at the base of the sand dunes. It is fed by snow melt and just runs during the spring and early summer, but it was still flowing when we visited.
It was only a few inches deep and ran in rivulets across an expanse of flat sand.
The water was icy cold and felt wonderful after traipsing through hot sand.
The stream, with its sandy bottom and gentle but persistant current, was perfect for digging...
and flinging...
and playing.
And a couple of girls would have been perfectly happy playing there all day!
