Katherine played her violin in church again yesterday.
Like her performance last summer, it was all her idea. She told the music director she wanted to play, informed her violin teacher, and invited her relatives.
She played a Schubert minuet that she has been working on since February. She has occasionally mentioned that she is ready to play something new, but when I caught her humming the peice yesterday afternoon she shrugged and said, "I really like this music. It's pretty!"
She was excited about playing and couldn't wait for church to start. Her lack of stage fright it simply amazing! She sat calmly through the first part of the service, with only the slightest bit of restlessness indicating that this was anything other than an ordinary Sunday.
When it was her turn she hopped up, looked out at the congregation, nodded to her accompaniast, and played as calmly and confidently as if she were at home in her room. Sometimes this girl astounds me!
