Annual Cookout

The young families group at our church had our annual cookout this evening. It was, as always, it was a wonderful evening of fellowship.

There were kids everywhere! The best part is all the kids know each other well and all the parents watch out for each other's children. Tonight we joked that we understood how Jesus' parents could leave Jerusalem and not notice that their 12 year old boy was missing - they just figured that someone in the church family was looking after him. We understand that!

There was a hay ride. Actually many hay rides.
There were games of soccer and chase and poking sticks in the fish pond.
There were the much-anticipated tractor rides. The kids are always SO impressed that Larry lets them actually steer the tractor!
Our pastor and dear friend, John, is moving this summer. He has been wonderful with our children and they all adore him. Tonight they presented him with little gifts and homemade cards.

We ended the evening by building a tiny fire and roasting marshmallows for s'mores.
It was a perfect way to begin the summer...
