Rachel, as everyone knows, loves to talk. She talks a lot, pretty much every waking moment. But despite years of speech therapy, she still struggles with a lot of language concepts, like pronoun use, verb tense, and the intricacies of vocabulary. And sometimes that proves to be rather funny. Here are a couple of recent Rachel-isms:
Steve and the girls came to visit me several times while I was in the hospital. As they were leaving one day, they saw an ambulance pull up to the emergency room. Rachel, of course, asked one of her favorite questions. "What happened?" Steve said something about someone was probably sick or hurt. Rae replied, "Did they get fired?" She meant "burned", but there is a certain degree of logic there. It would make a lot of sense if you got "fired" by touching fire!
Summer is here and Rachel is having a hard time adjusting to the relative lack of social opportunities sitting at home offers. We just aren't as exciting as school and daycare. At least once a day she saunters over and announces "I'm boring." It makes me laugh every time. Rachel, you may be bored but you are anything but boring!
