You know the water room at the Chicago Children's Museum is going to be a fun place when you see this in the entry room
They KNOW the kids are going to get wet, really wet, so they provide raincoats in every size from toddler to teen! And there are SO many fun ways to play in water there!
One particular water table was the girls' favorite. As in, we spent 45 minutes there and then went back again for more. It was a shallow table with holes drilled in the bottom and water pouring up from them in little geysers and then a collection of pipes and fittings to experiment with. They LOVED this!
Rachel was so in to her play, that she never noticed that she was piping water down her raincoat, or onto the floor, or dragging her pigtails through the fountains. She was just busy playing. (And blowing bubbles.) Katherine and I just stood and watched her and laughed for a while.
Despite the raincoat, Rachel was wet from pigtails to toes by the time we left. It's a good thing I'd brought her an extra set of clothes! It was wonderful to be in a place where kids could just be kids and where play was the whole point. I only wish we lived nearer so we could visit more often.
