Brought to you by the letter R
Rachel has discovered the joy of letters and numbers. She recognizes lots of them. 3 is her favorite. And R, of course. She's obssessed and more than a little possessive of letter R. She sees R all over the place - in the newspaper's headlines, in the Wal-Mart sign, on my Earth Day shirt, on the company logo of the toilet paper dispenser in a public restroom. R is everywhere! Sometimes it feels like we're living in a Sesame Street episode. One brought to you by the letter R and the number 3, of course. The problem is, Rachel thinks that R is her very own personal letter. Hers only. R is not to be shared. Last week Rae came in tearful and furious. I finally managed to work out that Katherine had told her that other people's names started with R, too. Rachel was filled with righteous rage about the idea. "R for Rachel!" she cried. "Mine! R mine! Just me!" I gently broke the news that Kate was right. Lots of people have R in their names. Her beloved Aunt Robie's name starts with R. Rachel was having none of it. "My R!" she repeated and then stalked off mumbling under her breath. "R for Rachel!" Exasperating, but really funny! So if your name starts with R, don't mention it to Rachel.
