Big Girl and the Bus

Rachel finally started school yesterday.  She was so excited!  She kept announcing "Big girl.  Rachel big girl - like Katie.  Not little.  BIG!"  Granny took her to class and served as the official photographer, since I was at work.  Rae did just fine.  Here she is with her teacher, Miss Kylee.
After school, she rode the bus back to daycare.  This, of course, was the highlight of the day.  As far as Rachel is concerned, riding the bus is the whole point of school!

Check out this grin!  Not only is the bus as fabulous as she'd imagined, but she's the only one who gets to ride.  Katherine does NOT ride the bus.  And Rae is mighty proud of this!

Today would have been Rachel's 2nd day of school, but she was at a surgical center getting tubes in her ears.  She charmed the surgical staff and made friends with everyone in the pre-op play room and is the only person I've known who wasn't the least bit self-concious about wearing a hospital gown.  The surgery only lasted about 15 minutes and she did fine.  She was NOT a happy camper when she woke up, but within 45 minutes or so she was clowning around and begging for food.  She's been her usual bubbly self the rest of the day.  And she knows that next week she gets to ride the bus again.
