At 7:30 this morning, Katherine decided that it was time for she and Rachel to go on a bug hunt. Never mind that it was 29 degrees out and they were still in their pajamas. Kate got a new bug jar in school yesterday and she was just dying to try it out. So, the girls pulled on coats and snow boots (shoes don't fit over footie pajamas) and clomped out to the backyard. They took the bug jar, a magnifying glass, and a flashlight "just in case". I watched from the window as they roamed the yard poking at dead plants and digging holes in the flower beds with toy shovels. Rachel leaned a bit too far on the sand toy box and fell in head first, so Kate puled her out. They had a ball! 45 minutes later they finally came in cold, bugless, and more than a little grubby but grinning from ear to ear. Who says you can't hunt bugs in February?
